With the UEFA Champions League Final being played in Cardiff this Saturday, Arriva Trains Wales is asking it customers to check their journey plans as an amended timetable will be in place affecting services across its network.

There will be no Arriva Trains Wales services leaving Cardiff Central station between 7pm and 11pm in order for trains to be prepared to take the thousands of football fans home after the final. Also train services coming into Cardiff Central will also be reduced from 7pm.

As a result, this will affect evening services running in the Abergavenny area. Local customers are asked to check their journey plans and due to the service reduction, services that are running in the evening are likely to be busier than usual.

Customer Services Director for Arriva Trains Wales, Lynne Milligan, said, “After two years of careful and detailed planning we are excited to welcome up to 200,000 additional people into Cardiff for the Champions league. Our timetable has had to change, particularly on the Saturday night to meet the needs of this exceptional, once in a generation level of demand. As such any train coming from or going to Cardiff may be subject to change and we urge all passengers around our network to check their journeys carefully."
