THERE’LL?be a chance to celebrate all things Welsh at the Borough Theatre next week when some of the best young musical talent in the area joins Blaenavon Male Voice Choir on stage for the theatre’s traditional St David’s Day
Although slightly later than usual on Tuesday, March 5, the concert will once again feature a blend of music old and new, all with a Welsh theme.
Leading the entertainment at the theatre’s traditional performance will be Blaenavon Male Voice Choir with special guests tenor Gareth James, harpist Elisabeth Davies, baritone Christian Loizou.
Also appearing at the concert for the first time will be members of Cor Ysgol Y Fenni Choir.
One of the area’s favourite male voice choirs, Blaenavon will perform a mixed programme blending Welsh standards with more modern offerings.
“We’re delighted to be joined for the first time this year by Cor Ysgol Y Fenni Choir which will not only be singing with Blaenavon Male Voice Choir but also getting the audience to join in as well,”?said the evening’s compere, Liz Davies.
“We have always tried to feature the very best young local performers as our special guests for this concert and we’re very excited to this year extend that welcome to the choir from the town’s Welsh medium primary school,” she said.
The annual celebration of all things Welsh is promoted by A4B and will help raise funds for the Borough Theatre, which has recently been taken over by Monmouthshire County Council after its former board of trustees failed to secure the funding to keep it open.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the theatre on March 4 to join us for a great evening of music, fun and Welsh cakes.
