group which organises family friendly events in Brynmawr has received a £1,000 boost.

Leading house builder Persimmon Homes East Wales has handed over the funds to Brynmawr Town Partnership, whose members organises events throughout the year, including the Christmas lights switch-on and Party in the Park, as well as funding and maintaining the town’s flowerbeds.

Wayne Hodgins, of the Partnership, said, “We’re extremely grateful for this generous donation. Our aim is to enhance and enrich community life in Brynmawr. Unemployment is high and morale is low in the town but we firmly believe our efforts make a positive difference to our residents’ lives and spirits.

“This money will help us to organise more participatory events and exhibitions next year, as well as producing marketing material to help promote and raise the profile of the Partnership.”

The donation comes as part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative. The Llantrisant-based builder is committed to giving out £24,000 to charities and community groups in south east Wales over twelve months.
