GWENT County Division One outfit Blaenavon
Blues welcomed old friends Croesyceiliog from Welsh
League Division One to the Co-op field on Saturday and
managed to hold them to a respectable 2-2 draw.
Although for the Blues it was their first pre-
season fixture, Croesy were already up to match speed
after previously playing games the on the two
preceding weekends and last Thursday against Gwent
County champions Newport Civil Service.
In a very competitive game of football the Blues
produced a good performance and played out a 2-2
draw, and were unlucky not to have won the game.
However, at this time of year the games are about
the performance rather than the result and the Blues
new manager Chris Mason will be very pleased with the
way his young squad played against an experienced
Croesy side.
The Blues goals come via 19 year old Leigh Carrick
and defender Grant Evans, while Zac Osbourne and
Ryan Fahey scored for Croesyceiliog.
This weekend the Blues will meet South Wales
Senior league side Tonyrefail BGC with a 2pm kick off.
Following the game Blaenavon Blues AFC will be
holding their AGM in their Forgeside RFC headquarters.
