At the October meeting of the Crickhowell and District Civic Society Peter and Pam Saxon of The Beaufort Arms, Crickhowell were awarded this year’s coveted Crickhowell in Bloom Autumn Cup.

Crickhowell in Bloom was established in 1984, with an initial donation of £10 from the Crickhowell and District Civic Society.  It is believed the present trophy dates from this time.

In September of 1991, it was decided by C&D CS that the winner of the Autumn Cup would be awarded by the group’s own committee. The award celebrates and recognizes the many floral displays outside local shops and businesses that beautify the town into the autumn season.

This year’s winners, Peter and Pam Saxon of the Beaufort, were presented with the trophy at the Crickhowell and District Civic Society’s October committee meeting at The Bear Hotel, Crickhowell.

In presenting the award, the Society’s Chair, David Williams said,“Thank you to all the local businesses who participated in this year’s event and in doing so helped make Crickhowell look fantastic for residents and visitors alike.

Many congratulations to this year’s winners, Peter and Pam.  We are grateful to them for stepping in and re-opening The Britannia Inn, incidentally last year’s winners, and thereby keeping one of our pubs open.

It’s also prudent to point out that there are many non-alcoholic options available at The Beaufort Arms and The Britannia Inn, and our many other local pubs.

It is so important that we all support our fantastic array of local businesses here in Crickhowell.”
