A DOG found in an emaciated and ‘very poorly’ condition on the streets of Abergavenny is now receiving medical care and a special diet as animal sanctuary staff battle to restore her health.
Named ‘Angel’ by Cwmbran’s All Creatures Great and Small animal sanctuary, the elderly dog was lucky to be picked up in just time according to staff.
‘We will never know her story. All we know is that she is just like her name - a real Angel,’ said sanctuary worker, Rachel Day.
‘Her bodily condition is poor and she will need lots of veterinary care and TLC. Angel is an older dog. She is very thin and has muscle wastage, so we are treating her with specialist nutrition that costs £12.00 a day.
‘This will help to build her strength and weight. Angel is also on steroids and antibiotics due to infected and inflamed skin as a result of fleas. In the future she will also require some dental work.’
The Sanctuary is now appealing for information about Angel’s possible history and also for donations to help her along the road to recovery.
Rachel added, ‘We just want her to have all the love she deserves and lots of care during her stay with us, so that we can give her a happy life for whatever time she has left.’
The Sanctuary has set up a campaign For Angel at www.justgiving.com/campaign/angelandchance?success=true.
