BLAENAFON Barracudas celebrated a second year of success, since the closure

of Blaenavon swimming pool, at their annual presentation evening held last December.

With well over 100 people, including swimmers, coaches, parents and their

families, this friendly family club raised a glass to both successes in the pool and the

club's aspirations for the future.

Club Chairman and Head Coach Kevin Rogers spoke of the commitment shown by

the swimmers and coaches alike in making Blaeanfon Barracudas a strong and

vibrant swimming club with a healthy future.

He reported that swimmers had taken part in many meets and galas over the past year, with many medals and awards being won for the club.

He then thanked the team of fully-qualified coaches who supported him in the delivery of the appropriate coaching to all the club's swimmers whatever their ability.

As well as presenting swimmers with the medals from the recent highly successful Club Championships, held at Pontypool ALC, the evening saw the annual club awards being presented to those swimmers for their outstanding efforts and achievements during 2008.

The Club's annual awards were announced by the Club Chairman and were made to

the following swimmers:

Club Open Award - Brandon Davies

Most Improved Swimmer - Stevan Goodwin

Best Boy Award - Tomas Evans

Best Girl Award - Chloe Roche

Club Swimmer of the Year Award - Sarah Haynes

With Blaenafon Barracudas, now firmly established and moving into the future, the club and its members are looking forward to the impending launch of the Club's new logo, which will provide the springboard from which the club will grow and develop in a new vibrant and confident manner into the 21st century.
