TWO teenage girls seen with a Dolgellau man who died after apparently jumping over railings on Aberystwyth's main promenade in the early hours, came forward immediately on reading an appeal in the Cambrian News. Dafydd Williams, aged 22, sustained serious head injuries after landing on the beach near Pier Pressure night club at about 2am Sunday 3 April. Having had a night out in Aberystwyth with 16 friends, Mr Williams was seen talking to two teenage girls shortly before the incident, in which he sustained the eventually-fatal injuries. It is believed that he had already jumped over the railings twice previously, before sustaining the injuries. Coroner's officer Pc Eric James, based at Aberystwyth police station, appealed - through the Cambrian News - for the two girls seen in his company to come forward. Pc James said: "At 9am on the morning that the Cambrian News published the appeal, the two teenage girls contacted this office. We are pleased that they came forward on reading the appeal, and thank the Cambrian News for publishing the appeal." Mr Williams died in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff three days after sustaining the injuries, after a decision was made to switch off his life-support machine.
