An Abergavenny farriers team scooped prestigious trophies at an industry competition, recently.

The N.R. Brown Farriers apprentices each won their section of the Stromsholm Apprentice Shoemaking League last year.

The Stromsholm Farrier Supplies annual shoemaking league aims to reward those farriery apprentices achieving consistently high results in apprentice shoemaking competitions across the UK throughout the year. ??The league table is divided by college group so apprentices compete against peers at the same stage of training. There are eight apprentice groups in total across the three farriery colleges; Hereford & Ludlow, Warwickshire and Myerscough.

Alistair Evans, Thomas Anderson and Emily Hockney, all trained by Abergavenny farrier Nigel Brown AWCF, each won their section of the shoemaking league. All 3 apprentices attend Hereford & Ludlow College.

Approved Training Farrier, Nigel Brown, said, “We are delighted with their success which is a result of their commitment and additional forge time to achieve ongoing, exceptionally high results. Emily has only just started her apprenticeship, Tom is now in his second year and Alistair qualified at the end of 2017. We have a very capable team who work well together and are a pleasure to teach.”

N. R. Brown Farriers is a progressive farriery practise located just outside Abergavenny and provides a professional, mobile farriery service within the surrounding areas. Nigel Brown is a Master Farrier and an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
