Drivers in Abergavenny have been urged to respect the speed limit on one of the town’s busiest roads, where reports of drivers exceeding the 20mph have left locals concerned for their safety.

This week, police officers took to Brecon Road - a section of the A40 which runs through the heart of the town - to conduct speed monitoring exercises and measure the speed of drivers in one of Abergavenny’s most built up areas.

“We have received numerous reports of vehicles speeding on the A40 Brecon Road, Abergavenny,” a spokesperson for Gwent Police said.

“The neighbourhood team have been in the area conducting speed monitoring. Please be mindful of the changes in speed limits along this road and ensure you are travelling at a responsible speed.”
