ABERGAVENNY Cricket Club will open their doors to the 2011 season when they stage their first outdoor session at their Junior Open evening which will be held tomorrow (Friday) with a 6.15pm start.
During the evening, youngsters will be able to take part in some cricket-based activities and learn and develop skills in a fun, friendly environment.
The parents will be able to complete registration, be advised of the arrangements for the season, meet the coaches, and enjoy a drink and a chat.
A spokesperson for the club explained, "We hope as many people as possible will attend what promises to be a good evening to start the season, and all new and returning players will be most welcome.
"Throughout the season there will be specialised age group coaching and expert guidance from Graham Burgess to further enhance the abilities of all club members and build a strong future for Abergavenny CC.
"We have already helped develop two current Glamorgan players in Michael Powell and Mark Wallace and have and ex-Glamorgan player on our coaching and playing staff.
"A large proportion of our current teams have also come through Abergavenny's coaching regime and we aim to further improve on this track record."
The spokesperson added, "Having been awarded the ECB's prestigious Clubmark award in 2009 we aim for very high standards for the future, underpinned by local players.
"We plan to run teams in the U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 categories and there will be separate training for our girls team who will also play fixtures at festivals during the season."
With further coaching during the winter, Abergavenny CC now boasts well over 20 qualified coaches at all levels.
The club looks forward to seeing you there and if you have any enquiries please call Youth Section Co-ordinator Colin Knight on 0774335137.
