ABERGAVENNY woman Jenny Morgan launched a new variety of Sweet Pea at this year’s Royal Welsh Show and a seed of it was presented to the Duchess of Cornwall during her visit to the Horticultural Marquee.

The new variety is called Gwawr Cymru (Welsh Dawn), and Jenny, who is the South Wales District Representative for the Welsh Region of the National Sweet Pea Society and part of the team that put on the Welsh Region Sweet Pea Exhibition Stand.

Jenny has spent months growing and producing blooms of this new variety ready for display at the launch along with the Welsh Regional Co-ordinator John Rowlands from Denbigh, and Allan Evans the North Wales District representative from Llandudno Junction.

Featuring a white background and pink blush the new variety has been bred by Sidney Harrod.

Amongst the many visitors to the stand was Chairman of Monmouthshire County CouncilJeny Councillor Sheila Woodhouse, who was pleased to support local involvement at the Show.

At the National Sweet Pea Championship of Wales held at the Show Jenny was pleased to come away with three first places and four second places.
