THE inquest into the death of a 25 year old mother of one found dead at a workshop on an Usk farm last Wednesday has concluded that she died from strangulation.
The body of Georgina Jane Symonds of Allt-yr-yn, in Newport was discovered by police officers, acting on information supplied to them, in a workshop at Beechwood Farm, Usk.
An inquest at Newport held today (Tuesday), heard that a post mortem examination carried out at the University Hospital of Wales, in Cardiff by Dr Richard Jones, found that the ‘provisional cause of death’ was ligature pressure to the neck.
Geoffrey Ronayne, coroner’s officer for Gwent Police, said, “One person has been arrested in connection with the death and charged with an offence of murder contrary to common law and has been remanded in custody.
“Police enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the death.”
Ms Symonds’ body is due to be released to her family so a funeral can be held.
David Bowen, Gwent coroner said that in light of the continuing investigation the inquest should be adjourned for three months.
