A man has been seriously injured in a glider crash at the South Wales Gliding Centre at Usk on Saturday afternoon.

The fire service said the glider flipped over on take off at the centre in Lower Raglan Road, Gwernesney, near Usk.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has sent a team to the scene of the crash which occurred at around 12.45.

The man, who has not been named was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea with injuries which although serious are not thought to be life threatening.
