A house in Abergavenny linked to anti-social behaviour was boarded up last week following a successful closure application.

The three-month closure order for the property in Samuel Salter Close was granted on August 26 at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

During the period of the order, anyone who attempts to enter this property in contravention of the notice, can be arrested by police.

PC Joanne Torjesen, crime and disorder reduction officer, said: “Members of the public have reported that this property has become a focal point in the street for anti-social behaviour which has negatively impacted the quality of life for local residents.

’’Ward manager PC Elliot Morgan has worked extremely hard with the residents in order to provide reassurance and take action to combat anti-social behaviour.

“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities.

’’I hope that this closure order reassures residents that if they have concerns about problem premises which are causing harm to the community, they can report it and we will work hard with our partners to take action.”
