IT was another good result for Abergavenny squash club's 'A' team when they beat rivals Newport 'B' by three matches to two despite missing Lewys Hurst .

Special mention must go to Steve Williams, who, recovered from a two set, 5-0 deficit to win his match 3-2 and record his first win of the season. As a result, the team maintains their mid-table position.

Jethro Binns (1) won 3-0

Steve Williams (2) won 3-2

Chris Hill (3) won 3-1

Gareth Hughes-Jones (4) lost 3-0

Neil Main (5) lost 3-0

Threre was another good win by three matches to two for the 'B' team, who maintain their position at the top of the league, on course for promotion as champions. The result was all the more commendable, as players were out injured. The highlight of the match was Gary Lawrence coming back from a deficit of 2-1 to win 3-2.

Mike Logan (1) won 3-1

Gary Lawrence (2) won 3-2

Chris Phelps (3) won 3-1

Ellis Lawrence (4) lost 3-0

Mitchell Lawrence (5) lost 3-0

The 'C' team also recorded a great victory by four matches to one. This was all the more admirable, as the team had to call upon two old stagers, "Dangerous" Dai Hill and "Cutie" Kevin Neal, in order to provide a full side. Both won by three sets to two, Dai taking the match 17-16 in the fifth. After the match, Simon Cave's opponent confessed that Simon's powerful hitting was too much for him, as he was unable to see the ball, such was the velocity achieved!

Tim Woodier (1) won 3-1

Dai Hill (2) won 3-2

Simon Cave (3) won 3-0

Kevin Neal (4) won 3-2

Matthew Thomas (5) lost 3-0.
