Abergavenny Town FC - 3 Aber Valley FC - 2

ABERGAVENNY Town are through to round three of the FAW Trophy , but it was an epic battle to get there Aber Valley arrived at Pen-y-pound as leaders of the top flight in the South Wales Amateur League and proved to be a very useful outfit. They were quickly into their stride and although the Town had chances it was Aber Valley who led at half time, albeit courtesy of a bundled goal, in the clash of the 'Abers'. It took a Dean Morgan strike from the penalty spot to equalise as both sides were locked 1-1, after 90 minutes. Aber Valley edged themselves into the lead again early in the first period of extra time, but the Town who are leaders of their own division and who, by now, had struck the crossbar twice, clawed their way back into the game with an Aaron Norman strike. It was late into the second period of extra time and with penalties looming when Town took the lead for the first time, when Dan Jenkins powered home his header in what proved to be the decisive goal. Town now return to league duty and face two consecutive away trips travelling to PILCS this Saturday, and to Abertillery Excelsiors the following Saturday, before returning to Pen-y-Pound on Saturday October 11 to face AC Pontymister (3.00pm)
