ABERGAVENNY CC's second team welcomed Tondu to Avenue Road on Saturday with both teams searching for points to lift them from the foot of the table.

On a bright and breezy afternoon Tondu won the toss and elected to bat on a good looking pitch. From the outset, Craig Whistance was able to swing the ball away at pace and this combination saw him rewarded with five for 15 from his nine overs as the old but reliable close catching cordon supported him with three good catches.

At the other end the unlucky Andy Pratten gave way to a rejuvenated Ryan Murphy Sharp who bowled with accuracy to claim two for two off his four overs. Two run outs and skipper Andy Timpson mopped up the tail as the away side were dismissed for a meagre 40 runs

In response Colin Knight and Gavin Heritage easily achieved their objective in seven overs allowing Abergavenny to obtain maximum points from a crucial game.
