EAGLE-eyed sharp shooter James Morgan is proving to be sure of shot, steady of nerve and bang on the money as he’s slowly but surely making a name for himself in the world of clay Pigeon shooting.

The 16-year-old KHS Pupil from Usk has only been competitively shooting for the last two years but already he has represented Wales and enjoyed an impressive haul of results in the World English Sporting Championships and FITASC.

Perhaps most impressively, James has shot at the World Championship where he came fourth overall in class.

Proud dad William told the Chronicle, “I’ve been into shooting since the age of 18 and James just took to it like a duck to water. He seems to have a natural talent for it.

“Nigel Hart from St Dials Shooting in Monmouth is his coach and he’s really helped James progress in his chosen sport. James shoots every weekend against both juniors and seniors and has already bagged a prize pot of around £2000. By the end of November he should make the step up from ‘B’ Class to ‘A’ class. It’s quite remarkable to see what he has already achieved in the space of two years.”

At last weekend’s Home Countries tournament, James was part of the Welsh squad which finished fourth but although the team’s dreams of victory were shot down in flames, James will be targeting more victory when he heads to Aberdeen later this month for another shoot.
