Abergavenny Squash Club’s ‘E’ team travelled to Newport and surprisingly came unstuck, losing by four matches to one. Only Dean Jackson-Johns was able to secure a victory, winning in three sets. However, the team remain in third place, but the sides below have closed the gap!

The ‘B’ team visited Cardiff again, and this time lost 3-2. Both Ellis Lawrence and Anthony Squire had convincing victories, but the remaining players, although fighting hard, were unable to secure the vital third win. The team drop one place into third, but it is only three points away from the second spot and promotion!

On the following night, the ‘C’ team hosted Merthyr, who are chasing promotion, and were well beaten by four matches to one. The bright spot was provided by Mitchell Lawrence, who had an impressive win in four sets against an opponent who has beaten him in the past, but the rest of the team only managed to register two sets against a very good side. The side drop a place into sixth, but have the same number of points as the fifth team.

Finally on the same night, the ‘A’ team travelled to Rhiwbina, where they lost a close match 3-2. Stalwarts Jethro Binns and Lewys Hurst both won, and the match hinged on the tie between Roshan Bharos and a very strong opponent, with Roshan losing 14-12 in the fifth set, having come back from two sets down! The team remain in fifth place, just ahead of the pack.
