ABERGAVENNY Squash Club's 'C' team lost their top of the table clash with arch rivals Newport by three matches to two, and now seem destined for second place.  Mitchell Lawrence performed well, as did Simon Cave, who came from two sets to nil down, and was starting to take control of the match when his opponent retired. Peter Sturgess was brought in at late notice for his first match of the season, and, despite losing, managed to get through unscathed despite being given a stroke, a call which unnerved him as he thought he was having one!

Tim Woodier (1) lost 3-1.

Mitchell Lawrence (2) won 3-0.

Simon Cave (3) won 3-2.

Matthew Thomas lost 3-1.

Peter Sturgess (5) lost 3-0.

The 'A' team put in a good performance by St Mellons, losing by only three matches to two to the only unbeaten side in the division. Once again, Lewys Hurst and Chris Hill led from the front, both winning their matches and maintaining their records of only losing one match this season thus far.

Jethro Binns (1) lost 3-0.

Lewys Hurst (2) won 3-2.

Steve Williams (3) lost 3-1.

Chris Hill (4) won 3-2.

Gareth Hughes-Jones (5) lost 3-1.

The 'B' team remain at the top of the table following another good win by three matches to two against Caldicot 'A', despite Mike Logan losing his first match of the season. The matches were all hard fought and very close, but the team managed to edge through, showing their true competitive spirit.
