Abergavenny Squash Club’s ‘E’ team visited Newport ‘F’, and came unstuck, losing 5-0. Both Dean Jackson-Johns and Peter Sturgess managed to take their opponents to five sets, but elsewhere it was a struggle, with only one further point taken. The team drop to fourth.

The ‘D’ team entertained a competent Monmouth ‘D’ side, and won convincingly by five matches to nil. Only two points were dropped, and the team move into a promotion spot, having reached second place.

On the same night, the ‘C’ team took a weakened side to the bottom side in the league, and managed a comfortable 4-1 win. The star of the show proved to be Tony Davies, the ‘E’ team captain, who managed a clever win in four sets. The team also rise into a promotion place by obtaining the second spot.

The ‘B’ team had its first “away-day” in the Premier League, travelling to Milford Haven to play the bottom side in the league, Meads LCA. The trip proved very worthwhile, as the team had a good victory, winning by four matches to one. As a result, the team solidifies its position within the league, rising to fourth place.

The ‘A’ team were visited by a very strong St Mellons side, and, again with a weakened side, lost 5-0 for the second week running. Lewys Hurst did manage to return from injury, but the side was still missing its top two players, and, at this level, it becomes very difficult to maintain momentum. The team drop into seventh place and the relegation zone, but the situation will improve when the side gets back to full strength.
