A CRICKHOWELL youngster who only entered his first indoor athletic event in December, won two gold medals and was the fastest under 13 boy at last weekend's East Wales Athletics Indoor Championships.
Crickhowell High School pupil Euan Dykes, 12, joined Brecon Athletics Club after always winning his sports day running events throughout nursery and primary school.
Last Sunday Euan competed in the East Wales Athletics Indoor Championships representing Brecon Athletics and was crowned Welsh Under 13 Boys champion after winning the 60m with a time of 8.30 seconds and the 200m in a time of 27.23 seconds,
The final of the 200m was a photo finish result which saw Euan win by 0.01 of a second ahead of his nearest rival
Euan's coach from Brecon athletics, mother, father, brothers and sister all supported the youngster at the Championships and friends and family were over the moon as soon as the results were announced.
