CRICKHOWELL RFC’s last game of the season was a midweek fixture on an inclement evening at Tredegar.
Crick were first on the scoreboard after scrum-half Richard Roberts made his way upfield and offloaded a smart pass to Tom Keane who ran in under the posts and converted his own try. Tredegar struck back with a converted try of their own. Crick responded when Harry Summers hit a gap and passed to Garth Downey who touched down with Keane again converting.
Rhodri Boggust increased the scoreline with a further, unconverted try. Another try and conversion by Tom Keane rounded off Crick’s scoring with a consolation try from Tredegar making it 12-26 at the end of play.
It was the final game for veteran prop Kenny Birch who, after many years of loyal service to the club, has decided it is time to hang up his boots. All at the club would like to thank him for his contribution and hard work.
The club finished up mid-table at the end of the season - a creditable performance in a difficult season. The stats were, played 18, won seven, drawn one, lost 10, league points 40.
The club’s AGM will be held on Friday June 8 at 7pm in the cricket pavilion. All are welcome.
