STEVE Perez and Paul Spooner finished third overall on last Saturday's Nicky Grist Stages Rally. The rally based on The Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells, used classic stages Monument, Route 60, Halfway and Crychan. Sponsored by local entrepreneur Nicky Grist, the rally attracted the largest number of entries so far in the championship. The rally was won by Paul Bird with Welshman Aled Davies co driving a Ford Focus 07 WRC. Sean Edwards and Gavin Haycock from Pontypool brought their Rally Weld backed Ford Escort home in thirty first place and fifth in their class. It was good to see Abergavenny Motor Club's competition secretary Phil Jones out on the stages again. Co driving for Mike Williams in a MG ZR. This local crew finished 57th and sixth in class.
