A FORMER Abergavenny Cricket Club Player recently hit the fastest Twenty 20 international century on record.

Richard Levi was appearing in only his second international match when South Africa beat New Zealand in Hamilton by eight wickets and afforded the 24-year-old an opportunity to make history.

The 24 year old got his first 50 from 25 balls and took just 20 more balls to reach his ton. His 117 not out came in 67 balls,

Levi played four league games at Avenue Road in 2009 and his total of 195 runs included a devastating 120 not out against Croesyceiliog.

The South African also played for Glamorgan seconds and was being considered for a future contract with the county, but was forced to return home following a complaint about eligibility. Consequently both the club and county lost out on an outstanding prospect.
