GOVILON repeated their rout of Fleur–de-Lys with an emphatic win over Cefn Fforest which saw the boys in blue progress to the last 16 of the County Motors Cup.

Dean Morgan opened the scoring after ten minutes when he set off on a solo run from inside his own half before rounding 'keeper Dean Cushion and firing into an empty net.

On the half hour he doubled his tally, before Cefn Fforest reduced the deficit in fortuitous manner when a shot struck Richard McCarthy who deflected the ball into the Govilon net.

At the start of the second half Govilon introduced Jamie Laurent and Chris Tyler, and it was Tyler who was the catalyst for their third goal when his strong tackle won the ball, and his pass to Nev Harris saw the midfielder rattle home from 25 yards.

As the hour mark approached Cefn Fforest pulled back a goal when their long free kick was not dealt with by the Govilon defence, and later their 'keeper Parsons produced a brilliant double save in keeping out a fierce drive and then the rebound shot, which would have seen Cefn Fforest equalise.

Morgan began to look to increase Govilon's narrow advantage and almost did when his curling shot left Cushion rooted to the spot, only for the ball to strike the post.

In the next minute Laurent set him free and he made no mistake side footing into the corner of the net, as he notched his hat-trick.

It was Morgan again, netting number five with ten minutes remaining, which signalled a Cefn Fforest collapse.

Laurent, Rhys Whiteman and Neville Harris pulled apart the Cefn defence allowing Laurent to coolly pick his spot from the edge of the box as Govilon hit number six, and the hard working James Hughes was rewarded for his efforts slamming the ball past Cushion for number seven. On Saturday Govilon return to league action, hoping to improve on their third spot placing when they entertain PILCS (3.00pm).
