GB Taekwondo junior squad member and King Henry student Maddie Davies (17) travelled to Barnsley recently to compete for her new Taekwondo club NTC in the 2016 Scorpion Open.

In only her second event since stepping up to compete in seniors, Maddie came away with a very impressive Gold in the -57kg category, finishing the final with a 15-3 score.

Unfortunately though in the junior category, after progressing to the final Maddie had to retire in the second round with a recurrent knee injury, limping away with a silver.

Maddie said she was delighted with her performance and gave thanks to her coach Mark and her teammates from NTC who all had impressive results.
