Abergavenny-based racing driver, Leon Window, is all set to take on some of the world’s best racing drivers at one of the most prestigious race meetings of the year, the 77th Goodwood Members’ Meeting.

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the Mini. To mark the occasion, race organisers at Goodwood have decided to invite the very best examples of classic Minis and drivers to race at the event.

Leon, who regularly races in the Mini SE7EN championships, also owns and races a classic 1962 Mk1 Mini Cooper. Commenting on the upcoming meeting, Leon said, "I received an invitation to race my car at the event and I was, of course, absolutely delighted. This is a very big deal for a small rural team, Skirrid Mountain Garage (SMG), which has been preparing and racing minis for 30 years. Over that time, SMG has won championships and best-prepared car accolades numerous times, punching above the weight of some very wealthy and well-known teams

"The Goodwood Members’ Meeting is arguably the greatest event of its kind in the world and regularly draws the highest calibre of cars and drivers, along with huge crowds, keen to watch a truly unique racing spectacle.

"Many of the cars attending the meeting will be driven by world famous racing drivers and celebrities. I cannot wait to line up alongside them and see how the race pans out. I was fortunate enough to attend a practice day at the start of March and am delighted to say that our car felt very competitive, so hopes are high for a strong result."
