Tredegar Ironsides - 38

CRICKHOWELL took a trip to Tredegar and tumbled to their second consecutive defeat after a talented Ironside outfit went to town on them.

With only five minutes on the clock, Crickhowell were left reeling after two late, unpunished tackles, an interception try and a superb score had them on the ropes.

Ironsides proved to be a well drilled, well coached outfit with five or six quality players in their side who never allowed the visitors time to settle.

When Crick did secure possession they were harried into making mistakes and the ball was soon lost as the Ironsides kept them on the backfoot.

Tredegar's three-quarters, marshalled by the fly half, who distributed possession and kicked superbly out of hand, had a field day with tries coming at regular intervals.

Crickhowell refused to lie down and the pack of James Webb, Alan Taylor and Matt Price stood toe to toe with the opposition.

The Ironsides scored five tries in the first half but Crick made more of a fist of things in the second,

and began to enjoy some field position with their pack gaining parity in the tight.

The scrum remained solid and with the ever reliable James Webb securing his share of the lineout, opportunities to score occurred, but were always dealt with by a streetwise Ironside's defence.

Matt Griffiths did manage to cross for Crickhowell following a five metre penalty, and although Tredegar bagged another try, the Crickhowell supporters left the ground feeling that their team had put up a pretty good fight against a talented side.
