CRICKHOWELL and District Branch Pony Club's show jumping team had a notable win last weekend at the Pony Club Area competition staged at Cwrt-y-Gollen.

The team of Simone Lennox, Rebecca Pugh, Jodie Buck and Emma Rhydderch-Roberts were the only team to complete two clear rounds on the novice 90cm course against competition from pony club teams across Wales and the borders.

The win means that they qualify for the UK Pony Club National Championships in Cheshire at the end of August.

This completed a very successful weekend for Crickhowell as Rebecca Pugh also qualified for the Championships in the dressage competition the previous day. Crickhowell is one of the smallest clubs in the region which made the team's achievement all the more impressive. This could not have been done without the support of the parents, volunteers and instructors who have all given up their time and expertise.

The team would like to thank the Brecon and Talybont branch of the Pony Club who hosted the show jumping competition on an extremely hot weekend.
