PICTURED is Greta Joyce fresh from competing in the Cardiff half-marathon on the weekend with her two sisters.

The 34-year-old Abergavenny lady is gearing up to run her first full marathon in November when she will pound the New York streets.

Greta is running in the big apple’s famous marathon in a bid to raise money for Velindre Cancer Care.

Her father Patrick Joyce passed away at the age of 65 from a brain tumour ten years ago, and Greta will be running in memory of the man she describes as “the best dad in the world.”

Greta told the Chronicle, “I’ve always been quite sporty and run a few half-marathons before but New York will be my first ever full marathon.

“I’d like to add that my training for the marathon has been greatly improved by the help of Mike James from MJ Health and Fitness. He has really motivated me and helped me work to my full potential.”
