GOYTRE'S battle for promotion from Welsh League Division three continued on the weekend with a victory on the road over Pontyclun.

Basement boys Pontyclun are currently fighting for the right to play in the Welsh leagues and so it was always going to a difficult but must win game for the Plough road brigade.

Frantically scrapping for every piece of possession possible, a battling Pontyclun took the lead against the run of play 20 minutes in.

Goytre applied the pressure and were rewarded with a penalty five minutes before half-time, which Luke Prosser made no mistake in firing home.

Some nice interplay between Callum Miles and Mike Pritchard saw Miles score the final goal of the game and seize another vital three points for Goytre who move into second place, five points behind Undy Athletic.
