AC Pontymister - 6

IN Govilon's match against Clydach the result was in doubt right up until the final whistle, but a solitary strike by Govilon's Dean Morgan in the first half turned out to be just enough to bag three points for the home side.

In their 11 goal thriller against AFC Pontymister, Govilon just lost out by the odd goal. The visitors struck first after 20 minutes, and things went from bad to worse for the home side as they lost both full backs through a red card and injury.

Down to ten men with over an hour to go, Govilon's good passing game was rewarded with an unstoppable finish from Craig Norman, but Pontymister struck again to make it 1-2 at the interval.

The second half started with a goal from Dean Morgan, but the visitors soon regained the lead.

Rhys Whiteman netted next and Craig Norman bagged his brace to give Govilon a 4-3 lead.

A tiring Govilon defence were exploited by Pontymister who scored twice to regain the lead.

However, the home side where not yet ready to throw the towel in and snatched a equaliser when a Pontymister defender scored with an own goal.

With time running out and the game still in the balance the away side capitalised on a defensive error to snatch a winner.

Coed Eva Athletic - 3

Blaenavon Blues - 2

Blues lost a crucial game against a very competitive Coed Eva side on a ground which

was a disgrace to Gwent County football.

The Cwmbran park ground was understandably very hard and bumpy, but the grass was also long which resulted in a very poor game of soccer

Coed Eva played the long ball game and found themselves three goals ahead in the first

30 minutes.

Blaenavon defenders made individual mistakes and were all guilty of allowing the long balls

to bounce, putting themselves under severe pressure.

The Blues came out in the second half all guns blazing and Lloyd Jeffries opened the Blaenavon account.

With time running out Lloyd Jeffries and James Cox set up Josh Bull who scored to make it 3-2, but Coed Eva played out the remaining three minutes and clung on to three precious points.

The Blues will now look to take at least six points from their next three home fixtures against Govilon, fellow strugglers Pentwynmawr and Newportide Lliswerry.

Meanwhile, in Gwent County Division Three, the Abergavenny Thursdays put on an excellent show of force to thrash New Inn 5-0.
