PILCS - 2

GOVILON came out on top in their five goal thriller against PILCS but had to come from behind to claim the points.

Govilon started slowly and keeper Parsons had to be alert as early as the second minute when he tipped over to safety a bullet like header from a corner. Fifteen minutes later and he was stranded when a poor back-pass allowed PILCS to nudge themselves in front.

When an injury forced Chris Tyler to leave the field he was replaced by Gareth Roberts, and it was his free kick from the right flank, ten minutes into the second half which evaded everyone for Govilon to draw level.

Just after an hour Govilon took the lead when Dean Morgan lobbed the PILCS' keeper. Yet with ten minutes remaining PILCS equalised after heading home from a corner.

With five minutes left on the clock, Govilon were awarded a penalty and Neville Harris held his nerve to slot the ball past Johnson, as his team grabbed three valuable points.

With league leaders Liswerry losing on the weekend, there is now a three point gap between the top and third placed Govilon, but the Badgers still have two games in hand, and Liswerry have yet to visit Govilon.

This Saturday Govilon hope to add to their points tally when neighbours Blaenavon Blues visit for a 2pm kick-off.
