Abertillery Excelsiors - 3

CHANCES Were at a premium for Govilon in the opening half hour against Excelsiors until the Abertillery outfit hit the post and then in the next minute again hit the post, but this time the ball ricocheted into the goal to give them the lead at half time.

During the break, Manager Stephen Morgan gave a blistering team talk, worthy of any hairdryer treatment, and two minutes into the re-start Govilon were level when Dean Morgan took the ball to the bye-line and squared for Neville Harris to fire home from close range.

They increased their lead half way through the half when Craig Norman threaded the ball to Dean Morgan who finished with aplomb from just inside the box. However Excelsiors scored straight from the kick off to level matters, and it was ten minutes later that Govilon regained the lead when midfielder James Hughes released Dean Morgan who set off on a powerful run before feeding Craig Norman who slotted in from almost on the goal-line.

It was Morgan again who was the provider, this time setting up Jamie Laurent who hammered home to make the game safe for his team. Excelsiors converted a late penalty but by then the result was never in doubt. On Saturday Govilon are home to Abercarn Utd (3.00pm).
