Abergavenny Squash Club’s ‘E’ team lost a close match 3-2 to Monmouth ‘C’. Both Rob Phillips and Dean Jackson-Johns had comfortable victories, but it was a stretch too far for the top three players. The team lie in third place.

The ‘D’ team had another comfortable victory, over Monmouth ‘D’ winning by four matches to one. As a result, they move above the other Abergavenny side in the league, and lie in second place.

The ‘C’ team won a close match 3-2 against Abertillery. Peter Steed, Jiwan Gahunia, and Mark Nicholls all had comprehensive victories, and a special mention should be made for Lee Nightingall, who performed creditably in his first match for the team, which remains in first place, but have played a game more than their nearest rival.

On the same night, the ‘B’ team recovered from last week’s debacle to register wins in two games, but overall still lost their match against Blaenavon/Pontypool 3-2. The Lawrence clan held its end up, but their opponents proved too strong in the other three matches. It looks like being a tough spring season for the side, who are lying at the bottom of the table.

The ‘A’ team had an excellent victory against a good Newport ‘B’ side, winning by four matches to one. The top three players all had good wins, with Steve Williams hanging on to win decisively in the fifth set. The team move up two places into third.
