GLANGRWYNEY made the journey to Hereford to play lowly Widemarsh on one of the hottest days of the year to date and delivered a blistering seven wicket win. Opening bowlers Haydn Davies (5 for 37 off 9) and Richard James (3 for 32 off 7) exploited the wicket to such an extent that Widemarsh were left reeling at 19 for four. Davies bowled opener R.Eames for a duck with his third ball while James also bowled Eame's fellow opener. Skipper Matt Hancock (16) played a couple of good strokes before being bowled by Jaems, with the wiley Davies bowlilng the next two batsmen for next to nothing and getting J. Reading (44) caught behind by Paul Daniel for a good knock. To complete the 'Davies and James' show, the bowling duo bowled the no.7 and no.8 batsmen to finish off Widemarsh who could only field nine players. Although faced with a small total of 87, Glang knew it wouldn't be easy. Openers Paul Daniel (10) and Bob Howell (20) proceeded to put on 34 for the last wicket before both were dismissed quickly. When the prolific Tim Jones departed for a duck, Glang were in a slight bit of bother at 30 for 3 off 11. However, Nick Jones (21n.o.) and Lewis Morgan (26 n.o.) batted sensibly and saw Glang home in the 17th over to keep the pressure on the top two - Builth and Luctonians. On a personal note, Haydn Davis got his 21st wicket of the campaign, putting him in the top five wicket takers in all five divisions of the Marches league. This win takes Glang to 15.2 points average with Builth second on 15.8 and Luctoniains top on 16.6 points with five matches remaining.
