LLANGYNIDR lad Andrew Evans was one of the hundreds of motor heads up who cranked up his pre 1905 contraption and went hell for leather on the 121st annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
The run was initiated to celebrate the repeal of the 1865 Locomotive Act which, among other provisions, mandated a flag-carrier to walk in front of any motor car to warn pedestrians and horse riders of its approach.
Former Crickhowell High School pupil Andrew drove a 1904 single cylinder Cadillac with plenty of punch. Ten horse power’s worth to be precise.
Having departed Hyde Park at around 8.15 am Andy and his band of merry men arrived on the seafront in Brighton at 4.15 pm. They then picked up their medal for successfully completing the course within the allotted time.
