ABERGAVENNY cycling ace Becky James hopes to be cheering on her boyfriend, the wizard winger George North, when Wales travel to fortress Twickers and attempt to return home with the Triple Crown this Saturday.

The 19-year-old six foot four powerhouse who has been compared to New Zealand legend Jonah Lomu, injured his ankle in Wales 27-13 victory over Scotland, and there were question marks over his head for the England showdown.

Thankfully, it looks optimistic that North will take to the field come Saturday, with James revealing on the weekend, "He's doing well. He's out of his moon boot now. Fingers crossed he'll be back for the England game."

James herself is no stranger to injury problems. The 20-year-old has had her London 2012 ambitions put on hold after picking up an Achilles heel and undergoing an operation to have her appendix removed.

Yet the two-wheeled speedster told the BBC Radio Wales' Back Page programme that she would shortly return to Manchester to re-start her training and she has not "written the Olympics off."

James revealed, ""It's been hard to be sitting around and resting but the coaches tell me your health is more important than anything.

"It's going to be the toughest time of my life really but I'm, going to put my head down – I want to be there so much."

Speaking about the new man in her life, George North, James explained, "We're both in a bad place as we've both been injured at different times, but we always help each other through it.

"He's got such a positive mental attitude and he's always telling me to be positive.

"Seeing him play so well in his first game of the Six Nations made me want to be back on my bike.

"Fingers crossed he'll be back playing rugby again and back on a bike with me soon."
