Abergavenny Town - 0

Ammanford FC - 2

AFTER producing stunning victories in their opening two matches, Abergavenny Town were brought down to earth with a bump against a spirited Ammanford side last Saturday.

Ammanford fired some warning shots as early as the 10th minute when the lively Craig Frater hit the bar. It was Frater again five minutes later who brought a reflex save from Tom Indge.

For Town, Toby Purvis forced Ammanford’s ‘keeper James Kirkwood into a fine stretching save as both sides went into the interval break, goalless.

Ten minutes into the second half Ammanford struck when Alex Arnold was on hand to side-foot in from a right wing cross.

Town then produced their best play of the match and Dan Jenkins was unlucky when his shot crashed off the crossbar.

With Town pressing Ammanford counter-attacked and Frater who had proved a handful all match capped a fine display with a well taken goal, as the visitors, who had arrived late due to a breakdown, had a much happier journey home.

On Saturday Town travel to Dinas Powys for a 2.30pm kick-off.
