Goytre FC - 1

Abergavenny Town FC - 0

TOWN’S trip to near neighbours Goytre for Friday night football, saw them battle atrocious weather conditions with driving rain and a swirling wind which made play difficult for both sets of players.

Goytre had the best of the first-half but no side could force a breakthrough. In the second half it was Town who carved out the clearer chances, but failed to convert any of them and paid the price in the 70th minute when Goytre scored with an angled shot which proved to be decisive as the home side bagged the points.

After two postponements, Abergavenny Town Women travelled to Llandudno Ladies, in the quarter final of the FAW Women’s cup last Sunday and it seems it was worth the wait. Town returned home after recording a thumping 13-1 win over their hosts, with new signing Amy Thrupp grabbing a first-half hat-trick.

Abergavenny Town U16s saw their game fall victim to the weather, and Town’s reserve side who were without a scheduled fixture last Saturday, are now eagerly looking forward to their mouth-watering Open Cup quarter final clash against Mardy FC at Pen-y-Pound Stadium on Saturday, (kick-off 1.30pm.)
