TOWN’S deadline day signing, Ben Jones, who has come on loan from Newport County, wasted no time in marking his mark when he fired Town ahead against Pontardawe as early as the eighth minute - slamming home from a corner.

Town thought they had doubled their lead on 15 minutes but Craig Norman’s header was inches over the bar. However Town did extend their lead on the half hour when Sean Feeley netted from the tightest of angles.

Town looked as though they were coping comfortably and were surprised when the visitors’ Liam Roberts stole in, a minute from half time to reduce the arrears.

Town continued to press in the second half with their defence rarely troubled, and saw Aaron Norman spurn the chance to score into what seemed to be an empty net. Craig Norman was also denied when he struck the base of the post, as Town went on to claim the three points in only their first league outing of the season.

Sean Feeley was selected as the Man of the Match by Town’s match day sponsor, Atal (UK).

On Saturday,Town return to Welsh Cup action after disposing of Chepstow Town in the first qualifying round, they now entertain Aber Valley at Pen-y-Pound (2.30pm).
