Treharris Athletic Western FC - A

Abergavenny Town - A

ABERGAVENNY Town now know the FAW has selected its very own Dragon Park complex as the venue for the FAW Trophy final which will be held on Saturday April 16.

Dragon Park, which is the Wales FA National Development Centre, close to Spytty Stadium in Newport, is a purpose built state of the art, football development facility which rivals anything else in the country.

Town face South Wales Alliance side Sully Sports in a match which kicks off at 2.30pm.

Sully Sports are no strangers to this competition, and are the last winners from south Wales having lifted the trophy in 2012. Monmouthshire has to go back a little further to find its last winner – Abergavenny Thursdays, who defeated Mostyn FC 2-0, in 1991 in a final held at Llanidloes FC, when the competition was in the guise of the Welsh Intermediate Cup.

On Saturday, second placed Town travelled to Treharris Athletic Western making their way there in torrential rain. The pitch, passed playable at kick-off, survived until ten minutes into the second half when referee Gary Ismail called it a day with Town trailing to a 29th minute strike by Treharris’ Matthew Sellick.

On Saturday, Town are on their travels again, to Treowen Stars (2.30pm). Meanwhile Town’s reserve side found Cardiff based Bridgend Street too strong and went down 5-0 last Saturday.

Tonight (Thursday), Town’s u16 side, under the astute guidance of Martin Stark, play at Pen-y-Pound (6.00pm) against table topping Griffithstown, whilst the reserve side is in action at Pen-y-Pound on Saturday in a local derby against Goytre (2.30pm).
