Croesyceiliog AFC - 1

Abergavenny Town FC - 1

After successive 2-0 defeats, Town finally stopped the rot at Croesyceiliog’s Woodland Road.

A decent crowd turned out for this local derby, and looking sharp from the off, Town soon had Croesy on the back foot carving out four good chances in the opening ten minutes. Including one effort which was cleared off the goal-line.

Town seemed to have finally found the solution to their problems in the last two games when their front line was starved of service.

This time around they continued to create chance after chance, all of which were spurned until Ross Oakley got his first goal for the club when he tapped home from close range.

Town’s dominance continued throughout the remainder of the half but again they could not find the back of the net and went in at half time with a slender lead.

In the second half Croesy started to rally, and Town’s travelling support began to fear the worst. And so it proved when Croesy’s Dan Pritchard scored late on, following Town’s failure to deal with the fallout from a right wing corner.

On Saturday, Town entertain Gorseinon based Garden Village (ko 2.30pm) seeking revenge for their 4-2 reversal last November. Whilst Town’s reserves, who had a terrific 2-0 victory over Bridgend Street at Pen-y-Pound last Saturday with Ben Bannon bagging a brace, travel to Treowen Stars
