Abergavenny Town FC - 0
Garden Village FC - 2
FOLLOWING a solid 2-1 win at Aberbargoed in mid-week with goals from Jac Evans and Sean Feeley, Town’s recent failings came back to haunt them against strugglers Garden Village at Pen-y-Pound last Saturday.
Once again Town saw plenty of the ball, but failed to convert possession into goals, and it was Garden Village who struck first.
Town lost the ball in mid-field and Kurtis Morgan bore down on goal before unleashing a vicious angled drive which clipped the inside of the far post and went into the net.
Town’s own goal threat was very sporadic and they went in at half-time, trailing.
During the second-half Town made various substitutions to liven things up, but little changed and when the visitors’ Josh Bradshaw broke free late in the game, he carefully picked his spot to fire past Tom Indge and give his side’s survival hopes a massive boost.
Town face a tough task on Saturday travelling to third placed Pontypridd Town (2.30pm)
Meanwhile, in their penultimate match of the season Town’s reserve side returned victorious from Treowen Stars with goals from Ben Bannon (2), Sam Rashdi and Nathan Davies to go joint third in the table. They round off their season away at Ton Pentre on Saturday April 8.
Town v Garden Village: 1 Tom Indge. 2 Brett Alderson (Sean Feeley).
3 Jac Evans. 4 Dafydd Brewer. 5 Aaron Norman. 6 Ben Watkins. 7 Brett Morgan. 8 Ross Oakley. 9 Dane Griffiths (Sam Oakley). 10 Jamie Laurent. (Luke Lewis) 11 Alex Bonthron.
