Abergavenny Women U16s - 3

Cardiff City U16s - 0

WITH the seniors not in action this weekend it was time for Abergavenny Women under 16s to take centre stage at Pen-y-Pound as Cardiff City came to town.

Playing on what is a big pitch for the youngsters, manager Alex Vaisey wondered how his side would adapt, but needn’t have worried because they were superb and took the game to the visitors from the off.

The young Town ladies were rewarded on 15 minutes with a goal from midfielder Lowri Brickell after some good work down the left.

Abergavenny had a grip of midfield with Cerys Pinchard, Caitlin Veale and Lowri Brickell dominating possession, and it was another midfielder Caitlin Veale who doubled their advantage after 25 minutes with a fine team goal.

Striker Eliza Atkins was a constant threat and was rewarded before the break with a goal of her own. No goals in the second half but a thoroughly entertaining game of football which sees the Abergavenny youngsters unbeaten in the league so far this campaign.
