ABERGAVENNY Town produced another professional performance against the sea-siders to extend their unbeaten run to seven straight wins and consolidate their second position in Division Two of the Welsh League.

A frantic start saw Town’s keeper Tom Indge bring off a spectacular double, and at the other end Drew Heffernan’s header was only just cleared off the line.

The frantic start slowed down but Jordan Hughes was yellow carded for his foul on Town’s Rhys Tandy who was giving the home defence a torrid time.

Shortly after Hughes was turned inside out by the tricky Town winger who cut inside, and crossed into the box where Sean Feeley volleyed into the net past the helpless Wallace to give Town a deserved lead.

Swansea’s Levi Houapeu found himself one on one with Indge but Town’s ‘stopper’ again made a good save to maintain their advantage.

Six minutes later Abergavenny doubled their lead when Tandy cut into the box and fired a long shot past Wallace.

Town made two changes at the start of the second half, bringing on Richard Jeremiah for Sean Feeley and Joe Palmer for Eoin Duggan.

The second half began quietly but with the wind advantage now favouring the home team, Swansea began to get back in the game.

As the half progressed the students pressed forward in search of a way back into the match. However, Town’s defence, with Tom Indge putting in a Man of the Match performance, stood firm and forced Swansea into wasting several chances with shots over the bar.

Despite some frantic pressure from the students, Town were able to see out the match and come away with a deserved win.

Meanwhile at Pen-y-pound Stadium, Town’s Reserve side suffered a 1-4 defeat by near neighbours Panteg in the Reserve League East.

Next Saturday, Town are home at Pen-y-pound against STM Sports from Cardiff. Kick-off is at 2pm.
