Abergavenny Town - 7
AFC Porth - 0
DESPITE missing three regulars, Town are safely into the hat for the draw for the first round proper after their goal feast against AFC Porth at Pen-y-Pound.
Town had the luxury of an early lead when Dan Jenkins put them ahead with a classy goal inside two minutes, and fellow frontman Sean Feeley doubled Town’s advantage on 16 minutes.
In the next minute an explosive long rang shot from Jenkins beat Porth’s ‘keeper Betteney,
who was set for a busy afternoon.
Feeley added a spectacular fourth with an audacious long range lob over Betteney as Town enjoyed a 4-0 interval lead.
After the re-start Jenkins showed great improvisation with his outstretched leg just managing to nudge the ball past Betteney and into the roof of the net, as he claimed his hat trick.
On the hour, Jac Evans poked in on the goal-line following a goal-mouth scramble, and with 15 minutes left Feeley headed home from a corner to join Jenkins as a hat trick scorer.
Town will hope to go one better than last season which saw them exit the competition during round one with a 4-2 defeat at Ton Pentre.
On Saturday, the Town resume their league programme travelling to Caldicot (2.30pm). The reserves are at Pen-y-Pound entertaining Treharris Athletic Western, and will be looking to push on after just getting pipped 3-2 at Caldicot last weekend.
