Risca United FC - 4
ABERGAVENNY Town made a slow start against Risca but 12 minute in the home team’s goalkeeper Angelo Rovaretti made an instinctive point blank save to keep his side in the game.
Risca then started to assert themselves, and Town were forced into long periods of defending, including a goalmouth clearance.
On 34 minutes the pressure finally told when Risca went ahead from a corner. Town fell further behind as half-time approached and again it was a header which did the damage.
In the first minute of the second-half Town made a quick break and when Ross Melrose laid the ball to Aaron Norman, he made no mistake with a fierce drive from the edge of the box.
Midway through the half Risca produced an astute which pass gave Town ‘keeper Tom Indge no chance.
Indge was soon in action again producing a finger-tip save as Risca pressed to make the result safe.
Two minutes remaining and they were home and dry when a thunderous drive from fully 30 yards found the top corner of the net.
Town had some consolation in the dying seconds when Tom Jenkins rounded Rovaretti and slotted into an empty net.
Town are away on Saturday travelling to AFC Llwydcoed (2.30pm), while the reserves take on Risca United at Pen-y-Pound (2.30pm).
